Words to inspire – Take risks and have fun!
My daughter loves a rope swing in the woods so we often go in search for new ones. I always like to give them a go too because they are so much fun.
One day we were out and we discovered a new one but in order to reach it I had to climb up on something.
Lil lady watched while I found something that would give me enough height. It was a big log and as I stood on it, it started rolling away under my feet. Lil lady gasped and said “Mummy be careful, don’t break your back.”
She was right to be a bit worried as I nearly fell badly. Although I was aware it was risky I had the faith that I’d be ok and besides I wanted the fun I would get if I managed it. I just had to use wisdom.
Sometimes we have to take risks in life, some will be very scary and some will be a lot of fun. If we don’t take them and stay safe with the things we know, we could be blocking our full potential and our purpose.
This could be within our relationships, our home life, our jobs and careers, our ministries. I heard yesterday that faith can be spelt RISK. To have faith you believe that things will work out even though you have no idea how they will work out. I trust that the almighty will carry me through even if I’ve made a mistake. Like a GPS sat nav, when we go in wrong direction or take the wrong turn it will find another route or navigate us back. It might take a little longer but we’ll still get to the destination.
I used to live a really ‘safe’ life with very little spontaneity, doing everything I knew how to do within my control, going through the motions. Gosh it was so boring. Now I’m stepping out without fear, trying new things out, utilising my gifting and talents too. I don’t know how everything is going to end but I’m still going to take the risk and trust that it will be just fine. Life for me right now is more than just fine. I’m having a blast!
Be brave enough to take risks, do something you’ve never done before even if it’s scary. I challenge you this week to do that and have fun.
Peace and love
Mrs JK
